Description
Progress Photograph Number 24 of the William Penn Hotel. The hotel was designed by Janssen and Abbot and the construction engineer was James L. Stuart. The steel framing of the two lowest levels for the lobby are twice as tall as the stories for the rooms. In one of the bays there is a sign advertising George H. Softel Co. 425 2nd Ave, plumbing contractors for this building. On the fourth floor, stacks of bricks are arranged and waiting to be used. The steel frames are stamped with American Bridge Co. It still looks like this photograph was taken from the top of Kaufmann's Department store. And the lights that illuminate the front of the Leader building are also visible.
