Not everything held by our Historic Pittsburgh partners is digitized and can be found online. However, listings of non-digitized content can be searched in finding aids (also known as collection guides). Finding aids such as these include a brief overview of each collection, information about the person, organization or institution who created the collection, and typically an inventory which lists each folder in the collection.
We are thrilled to announce that you can now search finding aids from the University of Pittsburgh directly within Historic Pittsburgh. In some cases, a digitized item will now include a link to its respective finding aid to provide context to that item, and vice-versa. We hope you find this functionality useful. And we’re working on including finding aids from other institutions as well. Please contact us with questions and let us know what you think!
