The Independent Slovak Citizen's Club of Connellsville, Pa., was chartered in September, 1908 and served to "form a non-partisan and non-secrarian organization of persons of Slavic descent, to promote good citizenship and to encourage and aid its non-citizen members to become citizens of the United States, to uphold the good name of the Slovak people, and to provide a place for meetings and social activities for its members."
